This page explains how TutelaMedical.com produces content, how we evaluate the products and services we cover, and how our affiliate relationships work. We publish this information because transparency about editorial process is foundational to the trust we're asking you to place in our analysis.
Our Editorial Process
We evaluate — we don't endorse. Every product analysis published on TutelaMedical follows a structured methodology. We assess products against established criteria within their category, report what we find, and render an editorial judgment in “The Verdict” section of each review. That judgment can be positive, negative, conditional, or mixed — it reflects the evidence, not a business relationship.
Criteria before products. Our evaluation framework for any given category is defined before we begin assessing individual products. This prevents the common affiliate-content problem of reverse-engineering an argument to support a predetermined recommendation. The criteria determine the outcome — not the other way around.
What we evaluate for supplements and health products:
Ingredient Evidence: We review published clinical literature for each active ingredient. We distinguish between human clinical trials, animal studies, and in-vitro (lab) research — because these represent fundamentally different levels of evidence. We note when evidence is limited, mixed, or absent, and we flag ingredients that have marketing momentum but thin clinical support.
Dosage Adequacy: We compare the dosages listed on product labels to the dosages used in clinical studies. An ingredient is only as effective as its dose. Products that include clinically studied ingredients at sub-therapeutic concentrations get flagged — regardless of how impressive the ingredient list looks.
Formulation Transparency: We assess whether a product discloses individual ingredient dosages or hides them behind proprietary blends. Proprietary blends are not inherently disqualifying, but they prevent independent verification of dosage adequacy, and we note this limitation in every review where it applies.
Safety Profile: We review published safety data and known contraindications for each ingredient. We flag potential interactions with common medications and note any ingredients that require particular caution for specific populations. This is informational — not medical advice. Always consult your healthcare provider.
Value Assessment: We evaluate cost relative to formulation quality, not as an absolute measure. A $60 product with clinically dosed, transparent formulation represents better value than a $30 product with underdosed proprietary blends — even though it costs more.
What we evaluate for telehealth services:
Provider Credentials & Clinical Oversight: Are the prescribing providers licensed in the patient's state? Is there structured follow-up, or is the service functioning as a one-time medication dispenser?
Medication Quality & Pharmacy Sourcing: Does the pharmacy hold appropriate state licenses? Is it FDA-registered or LegitScript-certified? Is compounded vs. brand-name medication clearly disclosed?
Total Cost Transparency: What is the actual all-in monthly cost, including consultation fees, platform fees, medication, supplies, and shipping? Are there hidden charges at higher doses?
Treatment Flexibility: Can treatment be adjusted, paused, or discontinued without penalties? Is dose titration managed by a provider or dictated by a fixed protocol?
Ongoing Patient Support: Can the patient reach a licensed provider for questions, side effect management, or dose adjustments after the initial consultation?
Our Sources
TutelaMedical's editorial analysis draws from:
Peer-reviewed clinical literature — published studies in indexed medical and nutrition journals. We prioritize systematic reviews and meta-analyses when available, followed by randomized controlled trials, followed by observational studies. We note the study design and sample size when citing individual studies.
Manufacturer-disclosed formulation data — ingredient lists, dosages (where disclosed), and certifications as published by the product manufacturer. We do not independently test products in a laboratory.
Regulatory databases — FDA warning letters, FTC enforcement actions, and relevant regulatory disclosures when applicable to a product or company.
Consumer outcome reporting — aggregated user reviews and reported experiences, clearly identified as anecdotal evidence and never presented as equivalent to clinical data.
What We Will Not Claim
TutelaMedical.com will never:
Claim that any supplement can diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Dietary supplements are not FDA-approved medications, and we do not present them as such.
Present preliminary or ingredient-level research as proof of finished-product efficacy. A study showing that Ingredient X had an effect in a controlled trial does not mean Product Y containing Ingredient X will produce the same effect at the dose included.
Fabricate or present unverified information as fact. If we cannot verify a claim, we either omit it or explicitly identify it as unverified.
Imply clinical authority we do not hold. We are editorial researchers, not physicians, pharmacists, or licensed healthcare providers. Our analysis is informational and educational — never prescriptive.
Affiliate Disclosure
TutelaMedical.com participates in affiliate programs. This means that when we link to certain products or services and you make a purchase through those links, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
How affiliate relationships work on this site:
Affiliate compensation does not determine which products we review. We select products for review based on reader interest, search demand, category relevance, and editorial judgment — not affiliate availability.
Affiliate compensation does not determine our editorial conclusions. Our evaluation criteria are applied consistently regardless of whether a product has an affiliate program, a generous commission rate, or no affiliate relationship at all. We have published unfavorable assessments of products with strong affiliate programs and favorable assessments of products with minimal or no affiliate compensation.
Affiliate links are identified within our content. Articles containing affiliate links include a disclosure statement within the article body, positioned before or near the first affiliate link. We use plain language to identify affiliate relationships because we believe clarity serves both our readers and FTC compliance requirements.
Standard in-article disclosure language:
This disclosure appears in every article containing affiliate links, in addition to the attribution block at the end of each article.
